The second day is even harder!

Still fighting the flu I made it through my second day of the six week fitness plan yesterday. It was much harder to push on through the pain with sore leg muscles, but at least there was no itchy leg syndrome to contend with!

Yesterday I upped the ante, vowing to steadily increase my work out each day; I did a full hour of aerobic activity instead of 45 minutes, which consisted of walking/jogging the whole of UWI plus two rounds around the grassy area near Admin. building, doing sprints and running up and down the stairs; it even started raining during th eworkout and apart from a brief stop as the rain came harder, we pushed on. The hubby wanted me to run more than walk but two things kept me from running non stop and they are strapped to my chest! Even with a sports bra there is just so much bounce I can take when running with these breasts. If only men knew the challenges we face due to our sex they would have a bit more emphaty instead of trying to work me over like I was an army recruit!

So if anyone was passing and saw two crazy people racing up and down the front of UWI that was me and the hubby doing sprints !

Then I came home and did some abs on the beast and legs with the thigh master! If you have one of those thigh master machines stashed away in the recess of a cup board somewhere, dust it off and use it! After I found mines I went online I looked up a variety of exercises that it can be used for. Check out the site here.

Saucy, yuh aint easy!!!! Yesterday, you inspired me to work out for the first time since April 2006!!!! I have been sidelined for many months with injuries and illnesses, and I was just living in terror of exercising again for fear of hurting myself. But last night, I put on my industrial strength sports bra, and hit Prospect Park in Brooklyn with a vengance.

I stuck to the short 2 mile route because I was running on my own and wanted to be safe, and also beacuse I am in no condition to do the entire 3.5 (approx) mile loop as yet. I was quite surprised with my performance. There were some aches and pains along the way, and the hill near the end had me sucking wind, but I made it through. Sadly, I didn't have enough in me to do my abdominal workout, so I did some stretches as called it a day. My boyfriend (marathon runner) was thrilled, but he warned me to take it very slowly so I don't injure myself again. He's suffering from a bad cold right now, but he says when he gets better, he will accompany me to make sure I don't go wild and overdo things.

So tonight I will do my "Abs of Steel" video and my stretches as instructed by the b/f, but I'm really itching to sneak in another run. I have a tremendous amount of weight to lose, and I certainly won't get rid of it all by Carnival, but I will be so happy if I could drop about 15 pounds in the next six weeks. I'm just hoping I can stay healthy and keep up my regimen.

Anyway, good luck to all of us on meeting our goals.

And thanks for everyone who says I am looking good, there is a multitude of sins that spandex covers LOL. Unfortunately a bikini DOES not! So I have to keep working on it!

Good Morning Saucy and Fellow Bloggers.

Sauce, ya looking good gyal!!!

I hit the gazelle this morning for 45 minutes before work. I almost crawled into work on my hands and knees, LOL, but I am here.

Concerning the running thing. I am well endowed in the top parts as well. I was watching a show the other day where they made some men strap on boobs, butts, and pregnant bellies and walk around all day. Needless to say, the men had a new found respect for their wives. So strap those flour sacks to your husband, I am sure he will agree to power walking after a day of lugging those heavy jugs around. LOL.

Keep up the good work!!

Well, well, Saucy, you are looking great already!!! So your quest for "perfection" is indeed inspiring. With your "diet" (I really do not like this word, because it conjures "food denial," eating plan is good enough for me), you will lose the fat and get a leaner look. The 6 weeks fitness plan is great and salsaman's recommended website for tracking your progess is cool (unless you have your own simple spreadsheet already).

I noticed on the weight training there aren't specific excercises. You are not training to build muscle mass, so use the lightest weights (but still at a decent resistance that would give you about 30 reps for the beginning of exhaust for each excercise). More reps and lighter weights would help you achieve the lean look; heavy weights (between 5-8 reps) would help with a more muscular look (which in not what you want).

Here are the weight training excercise I think you should focus on exclusively to make Fireman BLAZE: Standing military presses (behind your neck, not in front), rear triceps extension (do not do biceps excercise at all), this is all you need for your upper body. For you lower body, primarily your legs and buttock: do both barbell and dumbbell lunges (the longest steps forward you can handle), and back leg raises (with ankle weights or a similar weight resistance method), your butt will get real tight, and your legs which are quite good looking already, will look lean and sexy.

Needless, to say because you know this already, do all the ab crunches variations you could do for the entire 6 weeks (do a little bit of lower back extensions for balance and to keep the wining gear fit, lol), and finally do hanging knee lifts for your lower stomach and a bit of stretch for your mid torso.

Keep the inspiration going!!!

There is one thing I notice them models kar have over you, and it is the REAL FIRE BAM BAM. LAWD WE GOING DOWN DE ROAD!!! LOL.

saucydiva said...

TOG if i am not mistaken that promenade show starts later on in the Season.

Jumbie, if I see you with that sign I would pass out from laughing :D

dougla_1 you sounding like my hubby dey with the advice! In the fitness plan they did say to focus on the areas that you would like to work on in the weight training:

"In week two concentrate on basic movements which include squats, clean and press, bent knee dead lifts, barbell curls, military and bench presses. Weight train for approximately 1 hour, four times per week."

Thanks for the tips!I will be putting the fire bam bam tips to work for sure! Aye, and I always thought I did not have a fire bam bam at all since there are some ladies with real bubble butts!

Maybe Saucy, maybe. However, many times too much of a good thing is NOT a good ting at all... LoL.

When I took the pic with the Fireman hat I was not on my eating plan, remember I told yuh I was trying to eat healthy and cut down on my carbs, snacks, alcohol and increased my veggies etc... I was putting what I ate on the blog at that time.I gues that worked to help me loose some weight.

Yeah, I does look different all the time ;)

Boxing is back on tonight, can't wait to bust in my new gloves from Santa. I had ice skating planned yesterday w a friend, but she was/is awfully sick :( My days off from boxing, I'm running or skating. I have to talk to Coach about my diet though, he said when I 1st started, cut back on protein, but I have to get clarification on that...

Saucy you looking ready so anything else is just a plus. Allyuh make me feel so bad I went and put down my the potato chips steupse. I did ALOT of walking ALL day long for the last week and then some so I hope the damage is minimal. I def not going to be eating as much rubbish either so should be cool, but I need to include the exercise more I jubbling here

dougla_1 said...

Saucy, I read your response again to my specific target weight training.

Just to make things a little sure of my intent. The weight training I recommended are just to get you the shape I believe you are going for (from some of your previous blogs, and which you are not far from your goal at all). And I based them on your current figure from your picture. Also, keeping in mind you shouldn't have to "kill" yourself out by over training (after all you want to spend two solid days on the streets having a ball, not just crossing the finish line like in a marathon : ) )

Another thing I see with some women (not body builders) in the gym when they are weight training by themselves, they tend to hit every machine (and free weights) like they mad, instead of really observing their figures and use the weights and specific target excercises to actually SHAPE their bodies (light weights high reps to make lean/thinner, heavy weights low reps to build (except boobs of course, those twins are mostly fat and milk producing glands.))

For myself, my pre carnival workout is based on pumping up about 3 weeks before I arrive in Trinidad. My weak spots are my calves, biceps, and upper chest. And of course I am doing crazy situps/crunches right now to have a hint of athletic abdominals (I do not really need a deep six packs look). I am not a body builder for big mass (not a look I desire, that's just me), but I try to maintain a look of a classical dancers body (I am 6ft 2in).

Oh yes, and I find working out and keeping fit is a "chore" like most everyone's comments, LoL.

And listen to hubby, he is not guiding you wrong even if he is being tyranical like a "crazy coach" (of course, I am only guessing) LoL. I suspect by end of the 3rd week you will really admire your progress, and actually like finishing up the next 3 weeks :) Yes, it is really a struggle at the beginning; you'll get over the hump.

saucydiva said...

Dougla_1 I took your comments with a touch of humor because is the same thing hubby says to me. Now, he is great with the advice is just that when we start working out together he gets like a drill sergent feeling like he has to PUSH me. I does get vex cause I keep telling him I have to do this at my speed and increase when I feel my body can take it.

He likes to say my workouts "lame" compared to him, mind you after our walks I come home and do abs AND thighs. He used his rolling machine once, for about 4 times and say that was more than my using the ab machine! Plus when we go the gym I do everything the instructors say to do while he does 1 or 2 then ready to move on but I am the "lame" one.

I really do appreciate your advice though! Keep it coming :D

dougla_1 said...

hottie, I am about 90% sure I'll be playing mas in MacFarlane's "India...." I know the section I want to play in, and I am quite excited that I would do that mas justice! I just want to see Brian's descriptions of the sections first, and the costs (not too much a factor here, but it is still a factor nevertheless; we still have to make sure mas designers doh always take their patrons for granted and think we have money to burn). So, forgive me the little mystery for now. I will let allyuh know when things are finalized.

The London crew I normally lime with for most of the Carnival events ARE playing in Tribes. So for all the Tribes masquerades, I look forward to seeing all of y'all in full gear Tuesday. One of the pleasures I like to do on Tuesday is leave my band (Monday I roam the streets more), and just walk around and find other bands, and see how they looking. This is not as hard as it sounds (cell phones are a blessing for this, I have spies (family and friends) on the streets who do tell me exactly where a band is when I am ready to bounce them up. So for 2007, I will know exactly where Tribes is at all times. For the other bloggers in other bands, ah go look for allyuh too : )
