TRIBE Rumor Control

So, I was informed that I should get a copy of the new "SCORCH" Magazine out now, which I did, and was surprised to discover this interview "straight from TRIBE":

click on photo for a large view

The rumours that were addressed are :

*None of the new bands are a breakaway from TRIBE.

*None of the management of TRIBE left.

* Some designers who had private sections in TRIBE left, involuntarily.

*Dean and Monique are still together and Monique is not forming her own band.

*Sandra Hordatt has a section in TRIBE (as if we ALL did not know this was true from since my first post "Birds Migrate" and "Follow the Trail")

*TRIBE is going to be all inclusive

*The band size WILL be reduced to a more "intimate" experience.

*There will not be TWO bands coming from TRIBE next year as their can only be ONE TRIBE...

I think SCORCH is the biggest piece of crap magazine ever created. But that aside...good article.

LMAO@afro chic. I never heard of the magazine, and dont live in Trini so I can't comment on the mag. But I liked the article. Short and to the point. I think my favourite parts are: "Peaceful TRIBE" and "Did the private section leaders leave voluntarily?", with the answer being a simple, "NO". Hahahahahah. In other words, they were fired! Which we all knew, but it was interesting to see it in print.

Thanks Sauce. More TRIBE stuff please!!!

LOL @ AfroChic...at least the article puts to rest a lot of the rumour swirlings I have been hearing recently!
And I agree with Chris, more TRIBE info please! :)

VERY interesting.... From this article it seems that only one element (wink wink) is constant.

"We heard TRIBE was blacklisted from a recent band launch in 51 Degrees?"

"We hear one new band is more focused on making war with TRIBE than making costumes?"

Dem better pull up dey socks cuz TRIBE leaders are being seen at OTHER launches and costumes were revealed from these other bands too.

WHAM TO DEM????

Yeah right! There is no break away band from Tribe just like Tribe didn't break away from Poison. Saucy, find out the truth for us. Was Douglas John from Tribe? If he was, did he leave or was he fired? Was Charlene Lumwai from Tribe? If she was, did she leave or was she fired?

Douglas John was the designer of TRIBE's frontline costumes this year, including mine, and he did the headpieces. This was his first year with TRIBE. Charlene Lum Wai was part of the Atlantis girls that broke away from Poison and formed TRIBE; she also had the section Isis option B this year. You can read about Charlene's history with TRIBE here:

As for who was "fired" and who was not, all I have to go by is the interview where it says that none of the private sections left "voluntarily".

As for Douglas, sources say up to one week before Element's media launch he was doing costumes for TRIBE (all of which have been done over!!) and then he left!!! Of course since THIS bit of info was never mentioned in the interview we can only speculate as to whether it is "true" or not.

Saucy, scorch has no creditability when it comes to Tribe. The ceo/director at scorch has a child with a shareholder at Tribe who is also the sister of another shareholder. This Ceo/director also has a music truck in Tribe. Saucy, can you check and confirm this. If this is true, don't you think that Tribe choose to wrong medium for rumor control?

Saucy aka "The Sauce" said...

flash I do not understand what you mean that Scorch has no "credibility" when it comes to TRIBE. Even though, as you pointed out, there is/may be an affiliation between certain people in TRIBE and certain people who run Scorch are you saying that the CONTENT of the interview is not true???? If this had been published, word for word, in the Guardian or Express would that make it any more valid??

Regardless of the medium TRIBE chose to address the rumours, this being the magazine Scorch,at the end of the day the words are coming from persons from TRIBE.To me there is nothing wrong with having this article appear in Scorch, I certainly don't think that it is fabricated!

As for me confirming the relationships between the ceo of Scorch and the shareholders in TRIBE by the very fact that you mentioned that bit of information means that there is an agenda afoot and I am not into getting into people's personal business and/or relationships. It is not my job to speculate on any one's love life!

mind you this is all in good humor....... LOL!
Oh gosh man why people so, do your do and don't try to "crush" anybody you sound like sorry bitter old grannies!
