Seriously? Do you know how high 5 inches is? Do we get medical coverage for walking in "at least 5 inch heels" during the audition?

is this a new trend now? Model search? Just focus on producing good costumes plz!!!!!

Well, I know the bands need to find good models to protray their costumes, so having a model search is a good idea.
But 5 inch heels are a bit extreme! Better dan dat nah man!

LMAO ... LMAO ... Did someone on the committee just pull '5' out of a hat? I wonder what they are really trying to test in this model search. How graceful you can fall in your 5-in heels while trying to maneuver a costume? or maybe, how far down the runway you can make it before you fall in yuh 5-in heels. I eh care how sexy dem shoes make meh legs look, I don't think its worth the risk....lol

Besides, I don't recall any potential masqueraders complaining that the models' heels were too low. It's just not an issue...lol

FYI, the model search is being conducted in an attempt to find some fresh new faces. Your options are either go through an agency or do it yourself. The band has already selected some models through some agencies but as you would appreciate with so bands and so many launches there are just only so many people to go around. As for 5 inch heels, the international standard is 6 inch with 5 inches being the lowest acceptable standard. A good potential model is supposed to be able to carry themselves on a runway wearing 5 inch heels.

hot, are you serious? 6" heels? The only 6" heels I've ever seen are the platform "stripper" heels. I believe the standard is moreso a 4" heel...

Re. Hot's comment: Are you serious? What international standards are we talking about? Unless the potential models are vying for a spot on the international modelling scene, I suggest the 5" be scraped. While I can appreciate what you're saying about the models being able to walk in heels, 5" in my opinion is a bit much. To quote cute dougla, "Just focus on producing good costumes plz!!!!!

trini2dbone, I cosigning your statement. swanky, you are jokes!

Once again, I think the model search is a good idea. Let's make something clear, though.

I don't know WHAT international rule states that 6 inch heels must be used as the levy requirement to parade in a show.
Carnival in itself as a celebration is already internationally acclaimed, so let's not go too overboard with trying to find international standard-abiding models who could walk around in stripper heels, lolol...
What band(leader)s should be focusing on making sure what people see in the launchings is why they get on the road (to last BOTH DAYS), and if they still insistent on ameliorating their model search, then they should commence their search for varying the physical aesthetics of these "models" they use to portray their costumes!

"international standards"
Well that one had me in stitches!

One only has to peruse a few of the hilarious video clips posted all over the Internet to see that a great many models cannot walk in 5 inch heels.

Please don't go beating up on me. What I can say is that this is the advice / criteria that was set by the professional models who make up part of the selection panel. From what I know there are ex-Miss T&T's as well as local professional models on the panel and this is the advice they gave. If they are wrong in what they have stipulated then so be it. But I myself am not a model so if I am misinformed or delirious from the hot sauce I drank please forgive me.If there are any professional models here who can shed some expertise on the matter I am sure the Spice team would be willing to listen and learn.

ok, one of the bloggers works at an agency in N.Y.that handles model bookings, I asked her what was the standard and this is what she said:

"there are no set rules...but, you should be able to walk in 6" it's normal in the industry....".

p.s she would respond herself but has trouble posting. Hope this clears things up!
