Together We Aspire

It's time to confess that I have this unexplainable fascination with Trini Revellers website, checking each and every day to see when all the sections will be available for viewing.

Some days I am rewarded with another "gem" from their 2009 presentation "Sweet T &T" but I am still waiting to see costumes for the sections "Ca Cest Le Bel Air", "Devil's Woodyard", "Food of the Gods" and "The Asa Wright Nature Center" almost two months after their band launch!

Fortunately "Land of the Hummingbird" made it to the website today, albeit just a sketch and not the actual costume. It looks as if Sonia Mack's Paradisus individual and TRIBE's Hummingbird birthed this creation:

Sonia Mack - Paradisus version 2.0

TRIBE- Hummingbird

By the way, anyone else noticed that D Krewe seems to have nixed their Hummingbird section (along with The Moon) as it is not to be found on their website?

But I digress, the main purpose of my post today is to ask w.t.h. were they thinking when they designed this costume to represent "Together We Aspire"; is the Trinidad male aspiring to be a pimp decked out in the national flag?

This takes the award for worst male costume of Carnival 2009... quite possibly, worst male costume EVER as you have to be a manicou, not a man, to be caught dead in that get up!

wham to the costume? You rather he wear the flag as a skirt? Its carnival, they had to costume-ify the motto. Leave the sailor/trini/pimp alone

i personally am disappointed with alot of the mas bands this year esp the "NEW" ones and the ones that are meant to be building a rep from their numerous hickups this year did you remember the review/evaluation that DKrewe did after their first year saucy? i thought let me sit back and watch and see if things change up til now how many months after they launch they still dont have all the sections up, i cant see any form of online booking and there is section revamping left right and centre.

in my view alot of these bands have so much time but seem to stick at making a creative saleable costume!

i thought DKrewe did much better this year with the costumes being and online booking lol!
i can see alot of skanty uneven empty bands for 2009...........

The Moon costume was scrapped because the designer/creator person is very ill I was told. Not sure what happened to Humming Bird though.

I still think R&C's male Cockfight is the worst male costume design for 2009. http://www.ronnieandcaro.com/sections/Cock%20Fight%20resized/thumnail/Male-Suit.jpg

Evolution males are pretty bad too, but not design-wise...they just very untidy and unfinished looking.

Well, well, well Trinidad has flaming RED, white, and black Soca Musketeers. All manicous put up allyuh hands, going down de road, "one for all, and all for one!" Show yuh national colours pardners. At least we can spot where the down lows hang out, LMAO (seriously, no offense to anyone, please; it's just fatigues.)
