Carnival in December!

Photos from British Airways and Trinidad Development Company (TDC) promotional video shoot which took place on Saturday featuring costumes from TRIBE, Island People and Spice:

I have to tell you, some of these costumes look fantastic in natural light, Charmeuse is gorgeous, Greece is very pretty and Mudra looks awesome.

However Threads of Morocoo just fell flat, hopefully the frontline with more pink and plumage pops more on the road, if I were the floor member I would be definitely rocking some pink boots to stand out with all that gold on gold.

Loving the preview of Carnival 2010, just the shot of excitement needed in a slow December!

Okay. I'm a tad more excited now than I was yesterday. However, I am experiencing some costume envy seeing all those colours. (I'm in Mystery of Loulan).

Oh I love this. EXCITEMENT! My costume looks fab on the road.

But I agree, Threads and Xi Ling need lots of extras unfortunately.

Charmeuse and Osage look absolutely awesome as expected. As much as everyone hated Habotai, it looks pretty damn good in the natural light.

I am surprised at how nice Mudra from IP looks!! I guess it was a sleeper section for real. Greece Frontline looks great. Charmeuse looks wonderful. The rest are just average looking from what I can see so far.

Mudra looks great. Greece looks really good. Chameuse is best looking featured Tribe costume in this shoot. I also like how Ceylon Pearls looks.

People are sleeping on Mudra....was always one of my favs from IP.

Oh, I didn't even notice Ceylon Pearls. I love that costume and I had a feeling it would look great in person as well. It does look good.

Oh yes and Habotai looks nice. I knew that costume would 'pop' in person. Another sleeper section I believe.

Lets hope that the CAMERA in the promotional video adds the well deserving extra 10 pounds on these models. These costumes are OVERPOWERING their skinny frames!!! Tsk Tsk - reminds me of VS fashion show where it was the "Battle of the bones" LOL

LOL...I know it looks like they went and find the skinniest models possible. Putting all of us 'average' sized women into a panic!!!

The two male IP costumes look really good though.

Yet another unrealistic representation of T&T mas. Ah buncha skinny sticks...errr...chicks playing mas in high heels.

I know a lot of people may disagree with this comment but I hate seeing my costume on the road two months before carnival! I was good with band launch/launches and mas camp, but the road? No worries though, this superfit diva still intends on rocking my wear come carnival Mon/Tue!

Threads does fall waaaaaaay flat! I am super bummed!! :(
Maybe the powers that be would have noticed this and gone back in for some last minute colour punch ups!! HOPEFULLY!!! It's almost a shame to have this gorgeous costume just pale in comparison and not hold its own on the road!
Backline can you say thank God for the bid headpiece option?? I know I am!! Just wishing now that it were even bigger!

Sahmeerah said...

I am noticing that the headpiece for Threads is different to the pics from Tribe's site which just adds to the lacklustre look. I'm wondering if they have changed the headpiece.
