Wow, guess i'll be meeting the band after the savannah, which i assume is the reason for the point and time. Allyuh worse than harts? Don't really feel that new stage anyways but small thing

Since this is a heavily viewed tribe based blog I'm compelled to say this. I've just returned from the King and Queen prelims. To my surprise, no Tribe. The band that boasts so many firsts, "evolving" the carnival experience and clearly the most popular by selling out some of the most expensive costumes quickly hasn't seen it fit to stake it's claim in the king and queen of carnival? I hope i just didn't miss the announcer and they really did bring something, as I believe this is quite unfortunate. A band such as this has the resources I'm sure to make a huge impact in this arena. As i watch faithful carnival enthusiasts in their less than extaordinary costumes, i declare these are the people that keep the thing alive. Nothing to gain no prize money to win, just for the love of it. As such i want to big up the "in & hip" bands that at least made an attempt to keep the creativity of King and Queen of the band alive: Island People, Jwaala & Legacy, Spice, Mac Farlane & DKrewe - you will continue to get my support in your endeavours. Continue to stay the course.

I don't think TRIBE has ever brought out a King or a Queen, but I could be wrong and I wouldn't care to speculate on it. Also, TRIBE doesn't compete on the road either.

Anyway, as for Spice, I hope their meeting point doesn't cause any congestion because I know that is part of the route some bands take to get to the Savannah. But maybe since they're moving off so early, it should be fine. Six a.m., either, eh? That's early, even for me. Think the band will be very empty until about eight...unless some people have some half-past four makeup appointments.

As far as I know Spice is #3 on the parade route and TRIBE is #4 so maybe they just want to ensure they are IN FRONT of TRIBE and not end up getting stuck behind.

Never been compelled to comment on here in the past, but I've been moved by Jerome's comment. Very well said, I agree with you. Carnival is still about culture even though some seem to be losing sight of that fact in favour of pure hype & 0 substance, great perspective Jerome. How about a King and Queen of carnival fuh d road TRIBE??

On the Spice meeting point and time, I agree that is way early but I guess they want to make it to the stage early and get it over with, the meeting point makes sense if that is the case... we'll see how that works.

wahhhh that real early jeezzeeee

@saucy i didn't know bands had numbers on the parade route can you enlighten us and how are the numbers chosen

Malicious Jade said...

*doing the calculations* SO IF you have to wake up to head off at 6:30am, then you will have to ensure you wake up at 3:00am. 3 hours to shower, breakfast, dress, reach your makeup appointment (if on time and with no wait) and reach there.

Is there a shuttle bus offered?

Carnival Tip: In situations like this, walk with your breakfast. Make it simple and if required, cook it before. mmmmm Cereal! Cheese paste sandwiches! Ohh Look - Coffee!!! (hoping your makeup artist has breakfast for ya)

Saucy aka "The Sauce" said...

I was told the numbers are assigned by the NCBA/NCC.

MJ THREE Hours to leave the house? lol

Malicious Jade said...

Remember Saucy, some people coming from far. LOL And you know how appointments can get delayed. LOL

Humm that REL early boy. Reminds me of when I played with Harts. I will do it though. I like to be on the road early so I get the MAXIMUM mas effect. I will jump in Spice. Make a round back to the guesthouse and drop off parts of my costume pieces then stome in Tribe , IP, Harts and any other band I bounce up with.

Malicious Jade said...

Let me put it this way, its the earliest time, depending on what you have doing on that morning Saucy - makeup (if detailed), spray paint, tattoos, hair (madness on the hair but some do their hair on the morning)

And it depends on if you have transport and where your appointments are etc.

(LOL, mind you, I have to wake up that time and I live in town to prepare the house and me)
