So, after last year's theme vs theme battle between Spice and TRIBE (TRIBE initially was going with the Silk Road only to be trumped by Spice's The Spice Route) I knew this was coming.
Following my blog announcement of "Warriors" for 2011 by TRIBE and "Amazoni Savage" for 2011 by Spice, word is that BOTH bands have now changed their themes.
Really, are we back to playing secret sleuth for 2011 AGAIN?
Only time will tell, but at this stage you really have to admire D Krewe, Island People and Ronnie & Caro for not only announcing their theme early but also for not caring about what other bands are doing.. I am just saying.
To me the secret sleuth between TRIBE and Spice just makes it seem like one is afraid of the other... hmmm!

Whoop whoop another PLUS for IP! Loving the little come back that they have done/or is doing! I will be right back there for year #5 next year please God!
Tribe should just keep their theme, Spice can't hold a candle to them.
This is so childish in my opinion. I would like to know who came up with the theme first though.
It can't be a coincidence two times in a row.
If i were either of those bands i would have slipped in the 2011 theme when they published their thank you ads. So the band that released their theme after would act accordingly.
I appreciate originality, I like leaders not followers.
Now why would TRIBE be afraid of spice...
What difference does make?...... Feathers, bikinis and beads,
and with Tribe not entering competition, they could both keep
the themes.
my sentiments exactly Joel & Greg, in my opinion TRIBE has absolutely no reason to fear unprofessional newbie bootleggers whose quality of service & product delivered leaves much to be desired
This is so ridiculous. They should both keep their themes. I'm not sure why there is this newfound competition between both bands. One band's costume look great, expect for the men, while the other one looked like feathered mess. What Tribe need to study is how they are going to deal with all these negative reviews they've gotten and how they are going to manage their band being overpopulated. That would be my first concern!
Let's just put the speculation to rest here and now. Tribe did not steal the theme from Spice, and Spice did not steal the theme from Tribe. Both bands stole it from ME! Clearly, a spy must have been hiding under the table several years ago, as I casually discussed with my friends the idea of 'Warrior' as a Carnival band theme.
I suspect the same spy was also responsible for stealing my 'Traditional Mas Redux' idea, and my 'Birds' idea as well.
So from now on, I keeping my theme ideas to myself. Salt for Tribe and Spice!!! SALT!!
*evil laughter*
oh why am i not surprised!!! Spice and Tribe War continues! however i glad Tribe is changing their theme it was a big YAWWWWWWN theme, Dkrewe IP and R&C dont have to worry cos their themes are original, lets see what Tribe and the Tribe wanna be band release now!
It’s not about what your theme is it’s about how the concept is executed. The problem these bands are facing is because the competition is now for customers and not creativity they have lost (if they ever used) the art of the bomb. To keep their loyal custom and gain new customers, these bands are launching earlier and showing their cards for next year, days after carnival, of course the competition is going to change their theme to keep up in the race.
Not only that but hey, these bands have almost exhausted all the regular themes that a fantasy band can easily think up in the past 10 years, and while costumes get smaller and rhinestones and diamante’s get bigger not to mention the small design pool they all seem to be drinking from maybe it’s time they try upgrading their games.
its funny these are funbands who stay out of competition for the fun of it find themselves in competition.....
Love it Mas Assassin!!!!
I sorry eh ... but neither Tribe nor Spice has done anything great with the execution of their themes this year. So until proven wrong ... WHATEVER really!
Yes Mas Assassin. Tell dem!
*sidenote: IP had their 2011 theme printed in the mas packet catalog (on the back), talk about freaking early*
Mas Assassin, you could not have said it better! Tribe & Spice
should learn a lesson from people
in the businesss longer than them..
Meg Cheeks and Glen Carvalho, both had the same theme for 2010, no one seemed to be upset. After all it's a fantasy band, no production!
2010 on the road, I really admired
IP, with their production. Nice!
Did not see Hart on the road, but I imagine their production was well done also, they always have nice costuming, depicting Something.
