After playing with D'krewe for the last 2 years, we "took the chance" and what a wonderful chance we did.
In R and C, we had all the best "Big Band" treatment...unlimited top shelf drinks...food galore...we were served all day Tuesday with Beef Pies, Pig In Blanket, Mini Pizzas, Cakes, and even salt prunes...Water and beer and ice were passed around all day by servers as well.
Security was excellent, we were roped off all day. Music was excellent. Everyone stayed in sections and in order as needed.
One only complaint was Tuesday Lunch was late as we waited for 4 hours to cross Savannah {thanks to Island People, Tribes and Legacy being all right in front of us!] and after the trucks left straight to Murray Square to serve Lunch so we had to "catch up" to them...But all in all it was a wonderful experience!!!!
They won Band Of The Year Medium Size for the 3rd time in a row... They had 7 sections and all were sold out..I think 200 in each section and ironically 25% of each section were men, surprisingly...Nice mixture of people from all walks; white, indians, chinese, blacks, but it was more of a "local" feel "roots" kind of crowd, not too many foreigners!
I am done with big bands, I love medium size. And price wise, the sections were the same price as Tribes and all the rest..oh and we had a Wee Wee truck that men could use as well..In D Krewe men were not allowed!
Their backpack goodie bag was lacking all of the "extra" goodies but who cares, the mas was excellent, well constructed, no going back for anything or repairs. They were well organized in costume distribution as well.
On Monday we all wore White "Ronnie and Caro" T Shirts with matching White "Ronnie and Caro" Caps and white "Ronnie and Caro" drink cups!
All in All a 95% rating! No complaints whatsoever...I am hoping they stay medium and not try to go to large, but for a medium band Ronnie and Caro was HUGE....
Lots of fun...
Hope to see you next year! LOL!

This is good to hear about Ronnie and Caro...although I heard one horror story from them last year. Their price is cost effective and they have won another year...kudos to Caro!!! Maybe next year I will give them a try....
Ronnie and Caro is definitely one of the BEST bands on the road. I love the cross section of their patrons. Spectators do get to see the sections designs IN section practically anytime of the day, from beginning to end on Tuesday. The band looks like a lot of fun mas revellers (yes, costumes designs are above par, mostly), every time I have seem them on the road.
And, a special Kudos for the team's determination to ONLY be a MEDIUM sized band. Sometimes big is not a good thing to keep the vibes that made folks want to bring out a band, in the first place.
R&C keeping the culture alive, brave and strong, bless up!
I hate when people calle TRIBE,'Tribes'. It's like calling Ronnie & Caro 'Sonnie & Caro' or 'Ronnie & Merle'.
No 's' in TRIBE!
That being said, I'm glad that Donnie & Pearl had a brilliant year. My friends and I would actually consider playing with them, because the size looks ideal!
Ha ha ha ha ... Good one mjsbunny.
Donnie & Pearl was not really medium.. It was registered as a medium but i am sure they had more than 1000 ppl in that band.
As for you getting lunch late.... It was not because of Island People, Tribes and Legacy... It was because it had 3 BIG band goin up to QPS at the same time. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd you all allow Legacy to cut you all off at the corner of Park and Charlotte St... Not even sure why you all split your "medium" band when coming up Fredrick St... But again... Get yuh facts right.
Could someone tell me since when "Food Glore.." is Beef Pies, Pig In Blanket, Mini Pizzas, Cakes, and even salt prunes... SALT PRUES???????
Congrates to Donnie & Pearl for wining 2010 med band even tho the band was not med...
Cheers!
Nah Nev, I woulda buss up some salt-prune and beef pie on the road. That is some serious cutters there!
On my DVD, that costume, Africa, looked REALLY nice you know. And the band didn't look too big, so the people had enough room to Palance. My mate and I were seriously considering jumping ship to them in TRIBE don't sort themselves out.
And the reason everybody was late is because Cinnamon followed a really weird route (after pulling off late) and Island Folks got stuck behind them, then Trevor Williams cut us off. 'Twas a chain reaction there. Sigh!
But who say Steve & Jayne for 2k13??? If the costumes are brilliant, who knows????
Ha ha ha ha..
I will take Ronnie and Caro above TRIBES any day yes!
Finally a R&C review. Well done by them. That band was one of my top picks for 2010. Still is for 2011. If I have to fight to get eeen IP then it's R&C for me.
As I mentioned in the RC review (2) RC was a great welcome for a Carnival Virgin like me, especially coming all the way from Japan! Met some great people who will become great friends. Next year RC again!
