that was't sufficient notice AT ALL!!!
I was on fb with they put that message up and all I could have done was laugh. Really poor taste YUMA
wth??? so for folks like me who want to register in yuma but have no computer access at work it will be hard luck...
sttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppppppppppssssssssssss
JV it's open the same time as the mas camp...I pretty much expected that part so they would actually be available to handle any complications.
Take lunch from 11:45-12:15 or 12:45. Simple. Or grab what's on the ground any way possible (send in a middleman with your money if overseas, which is what I did cause i don't have time for no online headache).
Also, the US has Labor Day weekend about to begin, so I take it they announced it for Thursday and not Friday to not have people already travelling for the 3 day holiday missing out on their fair chance. The new york area has a HOST of Trinis who are gearing up for carnival on the Parkway...
Just a thought as to why they didn't give plenty notice as planned. Cause to wait til AFTER labor day woulda been even worse!
They said the would give plenty notice and they did not. Thaz the point, no matter how u twist it. End of.
Well said, safi!
Agreed, Safi
well said, safi
Your definitions of "sufficient" time may be different from theirs.
Yuma gave sufficient time, by telling you the Online Registration will begin "soon" and get prepared. They posted a note a few days ago. Anyone really wanting to get into Yuma, would have made whatever arrangements necessary to make sure they got a costume.
Point is, you are aware that registration started at 12pm today, so get with it...
Will everyone be happy?! Maybe not! But that's how the world turns. If you don't like, there are other options, that will give you the "sufficient time" that YOU need.
Agreed DeTrini. Those complaining clearing have not been stalking Yuma's facebook page as I have. Maybe they were waiting to get their info here first. Regardless, I jus want to say I was on and registerd in Oracle FL with back pack by 12:02pm.
Peaches
@ Eloquence Inc. i took my lunch early and I made my attempts to register in the section of my choice but it was sold out. Luckily, I had my second and third option and I got into my third option and it is lovely. But all in all, YUMA should at least give people a heads up like TRIBE and Island People to notify when online registration will take place.
I was disappointed that they waited last minute to tell people that registration was today, but I had my money waiting since the in house registration began, so I was prepared to jump on the computer. Overall registration was very smooth and I got into my first option...Sagittarius.
I just want to make it perfectly clear that I have been following YUMA's page VERY closely as well.
By any standards, 12 hours is NOT "notice well in advance"! Please put timing into perspective.
I was able to get through with my first choice as well, and I am perfectly happy with the end result :)
Nevertheless, the ends don't justify the means, and for a band that has been using social media so much to promote their brand, they needed to come better than that. Plain!
Most people on Yuma fb page were expecting reg soon and did not complain about the time to announce cause they had indeed been waiting (notice i said most. But u know what? You cannot please everyone nor can you accomodate everyone's busy schedule. I am just happy it was not done this Saturday or last where people would have been traveling or recovering from partying for Independence and Labor day. Jus saying.
I have to start by saying i am in the section i wanted and got it within the first 2min because it sold out at 12:02pm.
But the comment i want to make is this... i understand why so many people are angry about the 'sufficient notice' NOT given by YUMA saga. and i definitely want to say Safi was absolutely correct in saying it does not matter how you twist it sending out info at MIDNIGHT saying reg will start the same day does not give the 'working class' Joes the opportunity to change/reschedule meetings, doc apt, PT or anything that needs at least 24hrs notice.
I personally have two friends that did not get a 'costume' forget about their favourite section... a costume because of the 'lack' of notice given. And that is something they should take into consideration for next year.
Yes they are new and would make mistakes. I am just hoping they read 'all' the comments good bad or indifferent and take into consideration some of the individuals points because there really are some good ones. And use it to improve upon what has already started out to be something really big and prosperous.
Just my two cents... only because of what happened to 2 of my friends during the registration process saga.
