The stage was set at Aura Cocktail Bar and Restaurant from 7pm, with well-known local actress, model and Carnival enthusiast, and campaign spokesperson Teri-Leigh Bovell sharing her positive experience with the programme, thus far. “Nestlé has empowered me to be healthier, and pushed me to love my body and in turn, nurture my spirit” stated Bovell. The ever-popular Kes also graced the stage at the “Get Ready for Carnival” launch, giving a memorable performance of his popular Carnival hits to a gracious crowd.

The 14-days “Get Ready for Carnival” programme promotes a healthy lifestyle; with health being an integral aspect of being in shape. The plan includes 3 simple steps to be followed over 14 days – the number of days required to form a healthy habit. By sticking to the plan, consumers will be ready for Carnival 2012.

3 Easy Steps

This programme is unlike any other in Trinidad as it incorporates daily exercise; NESTLÉ FITNESS® Cereal with NESTLÉ SVELTY® skimmed milk; along with suggested portions of a uniquely Trinidadian menu, designed by a local nutritionist. Dishes such as callaloo and stewed chicken are all allowed on this plan, showing that by making smart choices, one can get into that Carnival costume and start on the path to a healthier life. Location

Spread out over the northern grounds on Campus close to the Principal's office the space was utilized very well for layout and flow. On entering the gates the main food area and seating was at your left; along the right another food area, both stages and other bars/drink stations. See map for details (and I must add I loved that maps were available for patrons on the day as well)

Ambiance/Decor

The theme of UWI Fete this year was Africa specifically "Zangalewa" and there were appropriately attired dancers greeting you upon entry plus touches of "African" print and masks in the decor. The theme even carried out to the printed paper fans that were being handed out.

Food

Wow, I know the menu was available on UWI Fete's Facebook page for weeks leading up to the event but I was still impressed by the variety of food in person. I sampled the Caribbean and Italian food stations first then later on in the night , after two performances , we went back for Greek and Indian and in between we indulged in the "finger foods"; stuffed dumpling with crab, ribs, barbque pigtail and aloo pie from the Debe Delicacies. Everything I had tasted great, no complaints. Kudos to the "fancy" square disposable plates that were used.

Bar

There were two main bars where I found service to be a bit slow and we were just waiting to get water! The Johnny Walker Green drink station (it was way too small to be called a bar) was my spot for drinks for the day. The only issue was it was situated in a passage way so it got crowded and it was a small bar that was very popular so always a wait to get a drink. I also saw an Angostura Cocktail Bar, Yellow Tail Bar, Chivas Bar and Carib Brewery. On the map there were other bars that I missed on seeing in person.

Performances

Again I missed Roy Cape and only saw the ending of Karma's performance. Having two stages I think is brilliant, since the stage often becomes the focal point at a fete with patrons standing around reserving a spot or staring at an empty stage waiting for the performances to begin. With the two stages there was no gathering of the crowd in any one area so people were moving all over the grounds.

Dil E Nadan, totally surprised me as the last time I saw them live I was not impressed. However the band was redeemed on Sunday giving a rousing performance that the crowd enjoyed. I don't know if it was the fact that I was up front for Kes or that the space was a bit smaller and more intimate but I loved his set, full of energy and I really do appreciate a Soca Artiste who can SING! Kes is proving that last year was no fluke, very strong performance.

Crowd Vibe

There is this myth perpetuated that UWI Fete is an "old people party", well that was not the case on Sunday as both mature and younger patrons attended the event, a very nice mix of people who all came out to party. As far as I could see a good time was had my many, self included!

Eye Candy

On a scale of 1 to 10 eye candy rating would be around 8 , there were some good looking men (and women) at this fete! Everyone who dressed to theme looked fabulous as I saw some very interesting interpretations of "African Wear".

Extras

The VIP area hosted stars Tatyana Ali, CCH Pounder and Lyriq Bent all of whom I had the pleasure of meeting.

Bathroom

Andy Loos (or something of that same nature) were used. When I visited there were no lines, they were clean, air conditioned and pretty fancy for a mobile restroom.

Overall Rating

UWI fete gets a solid 8.5, it was a pretty good fete! The rain of Saturday and early Sunday was both a blessing and a curse. Because of the rain and overcast weather it was not as stiflingly humid and hot as if we had blazing sunshine as there are not that many shaded areas at UWI. The caveat however is that some of the areas were muddy and water logged so that was a slight bit challenging to navigate. Other than that, I had no major complaints and I look forward to theme 2013.

Location

Same location as the previous week's fete, again no traffic on the way by the time I arrived. There was parking at the Heliport with shuttle service to the venue but many, many people still chose to park on the side of the main road.

Ambiance/Decor

Old Hilarians used the entire space of O2 park providing two Food Courts with seating and several bars throughout. Well placed large screen TVs meant that you could see the performances even if you had no view of the stage. No special additional touches to the decor but like I said before the refurbished space at O2 park is already spruced up.

Food

There was LOTS to eat at Old Hilarians, I kept moving from area to area and saying to myself "wait, there is still more!?". Very impressed by the variety as well. On the menu was bar b que pigtail, ribs, two sets of Chinese food , roti, international food, bake and shark, gourmet doubles, regular doubles, horse, geera pork, creole food, oxtail/cow heel/corn soup, a desert station and several more offerings that I cannot recall but there was lots to choose from and most areas had food service throughout the night as well as take out boxes to carry home if you wanted.

Bar

There were several main bars with quick service, no standing waiting to get a bar tenders attention, liked that. At the main bar you could have your Hennessy White and Johnny Walker Black. In addition for further alcoholic consumption you had a dedicated Johnny Walker Blue Bar, Moet Bar, Nuvo Bar, vodka Bar and wine bars.

Performances

I arrived too late for Roy Cape unfortunately but at this point I should mention that on Saturday there was a torrential downpour ALL day. When I got to O2 park it was still raining but guess what, rain stops nothing but cricket so patrons were partying with their umbrellas. Although the rain held up at points during the night there were times you were suddenly drenched with more rain! So, I was pretty surprised that the performances went on in spite of everything and I was able to withstand the rain for Destra, Super Jigga T and Kerwin Dubois. After that I had enough of getting soaked.

This was my first time seeing Destra, she is my girl so I enjoyed her performance as usual. I wish she would stop talking so much though . Kerwin Dubois was my favourite of the night too bad his time on stage is so short! I missed Kes but since I saw him last week and was seeing him the next day I did not feel too bad about it.`

Crowd Vibe

Rain or no rain people were having a great time, it's like they paid their money to fete and vowed to do so even though the skies were pouring down on their head ever so often. Lots of couples at Old Hilarians, and I was very pleased to see the men holding the umbrellas open for their women to party!

Eye Candy

On a scale of 1 to 10 eye candy rating would be around 6 . As usual the ladies were well put together for the most part and I have to commend the ones who looked stellar even in the rain. For the ladies eye candy was somewhat lacking, seems as if the women outnumbered the men at this fete.

Extras

A whole makeup tent providing makeup service, this is soon going to be a staple at All Inclusive fetes and not an "extra".

Bathroom

It's the same as last week, nice clean fancy bathroom at O2 Park, no complaints.

Overall Rating

I would give Old Hilarians a 7 only because the weather was not co operating, if the weather was perfect they could easily get an 8. Loved the spread of food and drinks and that people were having a great time at the fete. But,arriving and leaving in pouring rain did put a damper on things.

Know Your Fetes

All-inclusive fetes:

As the name suggests this is the type of fete where you pay one price and have everything included; food, drinks and entertainment. Most all inclusive fetes will serve a variety of drinks including rum, vodka, wine and scotch with the “premium” (read more expensive) All Inclusive Fetes adding champagne, cognac, cocktails and various colours of the ever popular Johnny Walker to their drinks menu. Food is often the main attraction for some at an All Inclusive Fete and the menus range from bake and shark, corn soup, gyros, gourmet doubles, roasted pig, stuffed crab dumplings in curry sauce to sushi, shrimp cocktail, oysters and local “wild meat”. Themed All Inclusive Fetes may also offer a menu to go with the theme, for example the African Menu at UWI Fete’s Zangalewa.

All Inclusive Fetes can be held at daytime starting around noon for the earliest or at night. Daytime all inclusive are usually held at a scenic venue, could be overlooking a beach, and people are dressed in their best “resort” type attire or if it is dress code specific All Inclusive Fete like Hyatt’s Lime you are asked to wear a specific colour. At night you can be partying at an All Incluisve held at a local sport celebrity’s mansion or a dressed up public space like the Oval Carpark.

Because of the price all-inclusive fetes are where you go to mingle with the local celebrities, politicians and the who’s who of Trinidad social circles. Rule of thumb is the more expensive the fete the more dressed up the women and men are going to be and the longer it takes for them to loosen up. At some All Inclusive fetes you will not expect to see anyone dropping on the floor and rolling or bubbling on a DJ! Even though All Inclusives are generally priced well above a minimum of $600.00TT/$100.00US some may also offer a tiered system of pricing offering a cheaper section with less amenities or a VIP section with additional extras not offered to the general patron.

Expect several live bands at most All Inclusive Fetes, with the exception of Beach House where it is party by DJ only. These days you can also find lots of extras thrown in for All Inclusive partygoers like makeup artists, masseur, taxi service, party favors and even gift bags.

Tickets for the very popular All Inclusive fetes are difficult to procure as they are not sold online or at a ticket outlet ,only via committee and those that do score these enviable tickets tend to act with the smugness of someone wining a lottery.

These fetes include something extra in the price but not the full nine yards like an All Incluisve Fete. Priced cheaper than your regular All Inclusive usually this may be a good option for those who do not wish to have food at a fete or the non drinkers who still wish to have something to nibble on during the fete.

Some Semi Inclusive fetes will headline a live band or two while others may just be DJ only. Tickets are usually sold via committee, at a specific location or online.

These are the type of fetes that attracts thousands of people, offer several live bands on the lineup and is usually held in a large open space such as the Queens Park Savannah. Priced competitively, these are usually the cheapest fetes and you can source tickets for them easily at a ticket outlet or in some cases online.

Although there is a one tier ticket system for these fetes you may find a few offering a VIP section that includes either an all inclusive or semi inclusive option. The attraction of a Soca Jam for most people apart from price is the fact that you will see most of the big bands and soca artistes perform at these events.

Be warned crowd response at these fetes is very enthusiastic and you may see several “crews” roaming with their Flag throughout the fete.

Theme Fetes:

Any fete where you are instructed or expected to wear a specific colour or accessory. At some of these themed fetes the dress code is strictly enforced while others are a bit more lenient. You can usually expect a live band or guest artistes at these fetes and tickets are sold via a committee or online.

Taking the fete out to sea is very popular during Carnival on several party boats like the Treasure Queen. There are boat rides that do early morning fetes or nightly sailing. Boarding is usually a few hours before actual sailing time at Chaguaramas and the sail takes you in the general “down the islands” area and back. Some boat rides allow you to bring coolers while others you have to pay for drinks with complimentary shots on board or drinks prior to boarding and a couple are all inclusive with drinks and food included.

There is no live band on a boat ride though a soca artist or two may pop up for a solo guest performance. Sourcing tickets for boat rides is usually done via a committee; you may be able to get a few online for sale.

Walking with your own drinks is quite possibly one of the cheapest fetes you can have for Carnival. At a cooler fete you are allowed to stock a cooler (there are rules as to what time they are permitted in the event and glass bottles are forbidden) and party in a generic open space for a couple hours with a DJ. Expect a few soca artists to show up for a guest appearance at the more popular cooler fetes.

Breakfast Parties:

Starting in the wee hours of the morning and going until the blazing sun comes up, these fetes held on Carnival Sunday round out the fete season for many party goers. These packages range from $200 - $300.00TT excluding the price of your ticket and are offered by corporate entities , party committees and mas bands.

Panorama semis is an all day fun lime and it is not necessary to join a crew to enjoy panorama, you can do your own lime walking with cooler and a pot of pealau or just purchase drinks and food at the venue.

Panorama Semis is held at the Queens Park Savannah and it is advisable to get advanced tickets from NCC (National Carnival Commission).

Oasis Carnival - More than a Mas Band, It’s a Movement!

Not many mas bands can boast of being a movement, but Oasis Carnival Band has made the concept of creating a Mas Band more than just displaying pretty costumes on Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Only in their second year and Oasis has taken Trinidad by storm. In August 2011, masqueraders were introduced to their 2012 presentation ‘NIPPON’- which translates into ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.

And since then they have continued to raise the bar. Not only was their band launch one of the most coveted for the season but riding on that success, they participated and hosted a number of events during the short season. The Oasis team put on a stellar performance at the Scorch Chick Olympics, placing 2nd with a 15 member team, 5 women and 10men. With over 50 supporters donning their Oasis tees, the team also placed 2nd in the cook off and won hampers for placing 2nd overall.

Then they won the Gog and Grog lime which was held in Glencoe showcasing their culinary specialty in bar-b-que and stew rabbit and curry duck. The Oasis ‘Yen’ team of 15 strong represented well and proved that not only is the team great at creating dynamic costumes but their talents extend well into sports and cooking.

As a way to say welcome, the Oasis family hosted a smaller more intimate event on October 29th called ‘VIP’. This wine and cheese event introduced some of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest personalities in sports, music and business to Oasis Carnival, with costumes on full display and live entertainment by Swappi at the bands Mas Camp on Rosalino Street in Woodbrook. It was also an event to thank sponsors for their continued support of the movement.

Following on the heels of ‘VIP’, on December 10th, Oasis threw the second installment of their Retro Party in Westmoorings called- This is how we do it 2! Needless to say the event was a huge success with over 300 patrons. Patrons were treated to a premium bar, $1 doubles and $6 beer specials to enhance the Retro effect.

To close off the year, the Oasis family held a charity drive where they encouraged masqueraders and supporters to give generously to those less fortunate. On December 23rd 2011, the Joshua Home for boys in Santa Rosa was the recipients of gifts, food hampers and a cash donation from Oasis Carnival Band. In addition, the 14 boys were introduced and motivated by speakers like Jehue Gordon and Errol Mc Farlane, who encouraged them to never give up and always strive for excellence in whatever they do. The donations were very well received and the Christmas party added to the merriment of Christmas for the Joshua boys and the Oasis family.

As they move into 2012 and get into high gear for Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Oasis continues to open its doors to its patrons to celebrate Carnival and continue the revelry. The Oasis Mas Camp remains open to the public Monday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and Saturday from 12noon to 5pm. To kick start the Carnival season, Oasis will be having the first of many Friday limes at its Mas Camp, where registration is still open to the public and costumes are on full display.

Brian Mac Farlane To Shake Things Up On Carnival Monday

News coming to me intimates that for Carnival 2012 Brian Mac Farlane will be offering his masqueraders and spectators something a bit different on Carnival Monday.

From what I understand masqueraders will be parading in full costume on both Carnival Monday and Tuesday. A two hour Carnival show is planned to be held at the National Stadium post parade on Monday where costumed masqueraders and live artistes ( one of the names called is David Rudder) will perform for a paying audience. Interesting!

Last year I was very impressed with UWI Fete's interactive Facebook Page to market their Fete Bollywood and this year I am still pleased at their social media presence.

For 2012 UWIF Fete have added, in addition to the menu, a listing of all the performances, times and which stage.

Zangalewa...It’s time for Africa.

After another sell-out year in 2011, the UWI Fete, the original All-Inclusive, celebrates 22 years, on 22 January with a journey to Africa. Established in 1991, UWI FETE is the cornerstone of the UWI Development and Endowment Fund. Over 3,000 bursaries have been awarded by the Fund to promote academic excellence, to assist deserving students and to facilitate student interchange between the Campuses of the University of the West Indies.

The theme for this year's much anticipated fete is "Zangalewa" which will bring the rich cultures of Africa, the land of festivals, to life for guests with exotic offerings of music, food, drinks, and décor by Randal Halfhide of Another Idea.

Guests can start their day with brunch that will include an array of local classics. Our chefs will make sure that UWI Fete’s guests experience the very best in food including a tantalizing mix of authentic African cuisine. And of course, Zangalewa guests can also feast on Arabic, Indo, Creole and International culinary delights.

“Last year we re-introduced two stages and it worked so well we are doing it again”, the Fete’s Chairman Dennis Ramdeen confirmed. “The additional stage allows us to enhance our guest experience by providing more space and comfort to party goers and we are really focused on that. In fact, we will also be adding large screens so that visitors to Zangalewa don’t miss a beat”, Ramdeen added.

Next year’s UWI Fete music includes Kes The Band, Karma, Dil-E-Nidan, Dr Roy Cape and his All Stars, with a special back in times session featuring Shadow, Nelson, Dr Stalin and Ronnie McIntosh. Recently the University of the West Indies conferred an honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) degree upon Roy Cape in recognition of his contributions to Caribbean music over the past 52 years. "This Doctorate really comes as such a surprise to me and I am very elated and honoured to have been chosen to receive it by the people of the University and to know that the academic fraternity considers what I have done over the years to be worthy of such recognition and reward," Cape said. Cape and his Band is the longest serving band at UWI fete and will be doing something special for Zangalewa.

Location

As someone coming from the East, Chaguaramas in the West can be quite a long drive to and from the event. Thankfully even with two other events in the area on Saturday there was no traffic en route when we arrived at 8PM. The only caveat with O2 Park is no assigned parking, you have to park along the main road though there were police and security directing you on where to park.

Ambiance/Decor

O2 Park underwent a facelift in 2011 and this is the second time I am seeing the revamped space.On entering you were greeted by models wearing costumes from Island People's Carnival 2012 presentation "Heroes" and truth be told this was the first I had seen of the redesigned costumes on models. There were also ballet dancers in white (not too sure why) and also pole dancers throughout the venue. I like the use of the white tents, with the decor of O2 Park you feel more as if you are at an outdoor living space than a blank open area littered with tents.

The layout of Yeah! was pretty good. Inclusive patrons had the area at the bottom of the hill with food for sale on the perimeter and hyper inclusive was located above on the hill with a view of the entire area. There was a seating area for dining in the sunken area and deserts on the hillside. Ample tables,chairs throughout the Hyper Inclusive area and one main bar.

Both areas had access to the stage even though there was a fence separating Inclusive and Hyper Inclusive.

Food

Hyper Inclusive offered sushi from More Vino, Beef and potatoes from Flair, Samosas, pork,chicken, ribs and a variety of other dishes from Mangoes as well as gourmet doubles, bake and shark and deserts.I personally had the sushi which was very good, other reports also commended the food from Flair as well. For the price I think what was offered was sufficient and apart from the sushi closing up shop too early, you could have had something to eat at any point in time during the night.

Drinks

The main bar served Johnny Walker Black and Single Barrell among other spirits, with an Ocean Spray Cocktail tents and sample stations of Nuvo and Hennessy. My only complaint was that the Nuvo sample station was located outside of the Hyper Inclusive area, so if I wanted a drink I had to go down the hill...and then back up. Plus the samples were not available all night, they also closed up shop early! I understand that the bar was done by Angostura and Brydens is responsible for Nuvo, but it would be nice to have Nuvo available all night if I wanted.

Performances

Denise Belfon kicked off the live performances and sorry to say that I was very unfamiliar with all of her Carnival 2012 offerings, and guessing by the fact that she did not rouse the crowd I can say most people were hearing her songs for the first time.Of course everyone enjoyed Denise's older songs accompanied by her bicycle wine.

JW and Blaze got things moving a little bit, but it was Kes who really kicked things into gear. Yeah! was my first fete of the season, first time seeing all the performers live. I am liking Kes's 2012 repertoire, Coming Over, Precision Wine and Stress Away had the crowd moving.

Swappi is as entertaining as always, from the minute he steps on stage and you see what he is wearing. I am still trying to wrap my mind around Bucket being such a hit; my favourite Swappi song is Bubble on a D.J.

Machel Montano is in much better form than 2011, he is actually singing an entire verse and chorus without stopping for breath this year. He looks as though he has been working out and the performance is getting back to the standard of Machel in the 90s. The great thing about Machel is that he has so many songs, so many hits and so many favourites that he can perform a variety of old and new music; I think he gave a solid performance but I want to see something more next time I see him on stage, something was missing, maybe it is too early in the season or maybe I am not thinking Pump Your Flag for road march as yet.

Patrice Roberts has really come into her own as a performer, she can now hold court with the boys and command her stage. Good job.

Crowd Vibe

I don't know if it is too early in the season, but at first the crowd was very laid back., concentrating on eating and socializing than dancing. Eventually with the performances they started to move a little and those directly to the front of the stage were full of all the energy. From my spot in the sponsor area everyone there was having a ball throughout all the performances.

Eye Candy

The ladies were very well dressed for Yeah! and so too were most of the guys! Way more eye candy for the men than the women unless you were looking to pick up a "sugar daddy" as there were more older men in Hyper Inclusive than younger ones. Cannot vouch for Inclusive area as I did not venture there to scope out the prospects.

Extras

The makeup artist doing full makeup services was a surprise as I certainly did not expect to see that there! What was even more surprising was that people were actually taking advantage of getting their makeup done while the fete was in progress!

Bathroom

This is specifically for you ladies since we actually care about these things. The good thing about O2 Park is no porta potties! There are permanent bathroom areas and the one in Hyper Inclusive was very nice and CLEAN with air conditioning, lots of mirrors, stalls and fancy sinks.. so fancy my friend didn't know how to turn on the water!

Overall Rating

For my first fete of the season I would give Yeah! a solid 7 out of 10. Nothing went wrong, everything ran smoothly, good food, variety of drinks, lots of performers but the level of energy and enthusiasm from the crowd was a bit lacking at times especially when I think back to Amnesia (the Island People event this has replaced) which used to be epic!

JamboriiMas is a college based Carnival Production Company that represents the cumulative efforts of several students from various tertiary institutes. Our motto, "Always a celebration" conveys that we are dedicated to making every endeavour an enjoyable one, as we aim to provide a premium experience for all our masqueraders.

Our presentation for Campus Carnival 2012 is "Access Hollywood" which consists of four (4) sections fashioned to emulate four (4) of Hollywood's popular characters. It is an all-inclusive experience with affordably priced packages.

Female masqueraders can choose between Lara Croft and Marilyn Monroe, while their male counter parts can become James Bond or Jack Sparrow.

Revlon Directional Makeup looks for Carnival 2012

Revlon enlisted the help of Tribe Costume Designer and renowned Makeup Artist Sandra Hordatt to create three directional looks highlighting makeup trends for Carnival 2012. Fireworks were the theme behind this year’s dramatic looks.

Inspired by the bright palette of colours available in Revlon’s new Colorstay 16 hour Shadow line and the glitzy new shades in Revlon’s Colorburst lip glosses and lip butters Sandra created three looks each based around a name from each of the products used: Ignite, Bombshell and Alluring Amber.

Each look was designed to complement the dramatic costumes loaned from the Tribe and Bliss 2012 Carnival Presentations ‘Take Me To…’

‘Creating the looks using Revlon’s Colorstay line ensures that our models’ makeup will last through hot sun and sweat.’ commented Dianne Mongru, Revlon Trinidad’s resident Makeup Artist, ‘Revlon’s new Colorstay 16 hour shadow is designed to not crease, fade or smudge so it looks freshly applied all day’.

Alluring Amber

Ana Rosa Banfield in the rich orange costume ‘Santorini’ from Tribe wears Colorstay Liquid foundation in Toast, Colorstay 16hr powder in Medium Deep. Sandra dusted her cheeks with Colorstay Finishing powder in Sunkiss for a bronzed finish and brushed her lips with Colorburst Lip butter in Tutti Fruitti for a final touch. Ana Rosa’s dramatic right eye was created using new Colorstay 16hr shadow in Bombshell, Inspired and Delightful. Sandra used Revlon Matte lipstick in Really Red as a base on the eye to create a fiery effect. Her left eye was given a smokey finish using Colorstay 16hr shadow in Addictive. Eyes were finished with Colorstay Eyeliner Black, false lashes were added and given a coat of Grow Luscious plumping Mascara in Blackest Black; amber crystals were added to her right eye for dramatic effect. Her nails were polished with Revlon Core nail enamel in Alluring Amber.

Ignite

Kristen Chin Cheong in the bold red costume ‘Ibiza’ from Tribe wears Colorstay liquid foundation in Natural Tan, Colorstay 16hr pressed powder in Medium and Revlon powder blush in Tender Plum.

Sandra used Revlon Beyond Natural Creme shadow in Plum Berry and Colorstay 16hr shadow in Brazen to base the eye before applying a layer of red glitter on the lid. She finished the look using Revlon Colorstay gel liner in Black and Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in Blackest Black to create the bold lines and finished with red crystals and false lashes coated in Revlon Fabulash mascara Black. Kristen’s lips were brushed with Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Candy Apple and Colorburst Lipgloss in Ignite

Bombshell

Cristiane Steel in Bliss’s colorful ‘Tahiti’ costume wears Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation in True Beige. Colorstay 16hr pressed powder in Medium and Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder in Sunkiss. Sandra used Colorstay 16hr shadow in Bombshell, Seductive, Brazen and Inspired as well as Revlon’s crème Matte lipstick in Really Red to create the three tone effect on Christiane’s eyes. Crystals in varying sizes were added for dramatic effect and her eyes were finished with Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black and false lashes topped with Revlon Double Twist Mascara in Black. Christiane wore Revlon Colorburst lipgloss in Decadent on her lips.

K2K Mas Camp Visit

Yesterday I accompanied two friends of mine to register in K2K and had the pleasure of visiting their new Mas Camp on the corner of Roberts and Cornelio Streets, Woodbrook. I also had the opportunity of seeing my costume up close and I love it! ALL of the costumes are very well constructed and have lots of little details that you miss on the website. My favourite in person has to be Red Sea, that costume is simply gorgeous!I also love Sarasawti River, Dead Sea and Sea of Gallilee.

From what I was told K2K is aiming at medium band for their debut and response has been going well so far. I can imagine that it is because my two friends decided to switch from a very popular band, sold their costumes, to take the chance on K2K for Carnival 2012. http://k2k-carnival.com/

For some reason there is an erroneous circulating talk that the Carnival Sunday Breakfast Fete Sunny Side Up has now been re branded as UP (Uber Pramie). I must say it is a very clever marketing ploy for a new fete to confuse patrons with a similar name in the location of the previous fete, but rest assured the two fetes are NOT the same.

Well, to clear things up let me break it down for you. Carnival 2012 will see a NEW venue for Sunny Side Up moving from its previous location on Palm Avenue, Diego Martin to St Micheal's Parish Hall, Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard, you can get ALL the details about Sunny Side Up via their website:

UP(Uber Pramie) is in NO way affiliated with Sunny Side Up, it is not a break away party, it is not the SAME party nor do any of the committee members of Sunny Side Up have any involvement with UP. UP as far as I understand is the brainchild of a resident on Palm Avenue who took over Sunny Side Up's former venue, it is a BRAND NEW fete for Carnival 2012.
