It started in 2006 as one masquerader’s diary: photographs, band launch reports and opinions posted every day of the year, Carnival Monday and Tuesday included. It grew into the place people came to find out what a band was doing, whether a fete was worth the money, and what boots would survive the road.
This blog is not intended to influence anyone to play with any one Carnival band over the other. How ah buy it is how ah selling it.
What you will find here
- The season hubs. Tobago Carnival in October, then Trinidad in February: every band on the road, J’ouvert, Kiddies Carnival, the fetes and the results, in one place per season.
- The fete calendar. Every fete, launch, breakfast party, cooler and boat ride we know about, by date. Promoters list directly and it shows up the same minute.
- Band profiles. One page per band, across every season, with our posts about them underneath.
- Results. Road March, Soca Monarch and Calypso Monarch back to the first competitions, checked against multiple sources.
- The archive. Twenty years of the diary, season by season, exactly as it was written at the time.
Who writes it
TCD is written by a masquerader, not a promoter. Reviews are paid for out of pocket. Listings and advertising are clearly marked, and they never buy an opinion.
