DMC Kids came out in 2023 from D Mas Man Company, the group behind Dirty Medics J'ouvert, with 220 children and a pitch nobody else was making: the only premium Carnival experience for kids. Three years on it is one of the country's five large junior bands with around 350 masqueraders, and founder Mark Ayen is aiming for 700.
What you get is closer to an adult all-inclusive than a school band: detailed costumes, professional photo shoots, two music trucks and a refreshment truck on the road, then an all-inclusive after-party with bouncy castles, snow cones and live artists. Off season the band runs wire-bending workshops and school visits.
Presentations so far: Nah Leaving, A Story of Home in 2025 (Most Original at St James) and Pan Now, Pan Then, Pan Tomorrow in 2026, which took Large Band of the Year at the Red Cross Kiddies Carnival and placed third in the Junior Large Band national results.
