Friends for the Road is the J'ouvert band that started as exactly that: painter Che Lovelace and a close group of friends and J'ouvert lovers who wanted the intimate version of Monday morning back. More than a decade on it is still independent, still capped small, and still the pick for people who want mud, colour and a good bar truck rather than a stadium-sized crowd.
The philosophy is written down: a safe space on the road, well-stocked bar trucks, music to lift the spirits, mud and colour to unite everybody, and friends. Then watch the magic happen. The band plays in the Woodbrook and St Clair area of north Port of Spain. For Carnival 2026 the TTSPCA became its official charity partner.
